Hello you..
Nice to see you’ve dropped by the site. How’s it looking and working for you? We’re adding new features all the time, so let us know if there’s anything you want to suggest.
My crazy summer is coming to an end now, though its not quite over yet. We still have the closing of FMIF at Pacha, the Ibiza DJ Awards and Space closing to go, so if you haven’t joined us already or just want to come back, there’s still time. I’d expected September to be quieter at Pacha, but was happily shocked that the party was as packed as ever.
I was mid-way through my 40 night back to back tour when we last spoke. Other DJs told me I was insane to try it, but I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life; a month long party; my biggest ever! It was traveling non-stop, having fun and getting to play different music every day. I didn’t go crazy but was so high on life! I had FMIF every Thursday which was like coming home for a bit of balance; it’s the only time I got to see my friends. Cathy came with me for some of it, which was great because the only hard part is missing my family.
I woke up so many times not knowing where I was or where I was going next, but I’m not complaining – it was amazing to play such incredible gigs and to so many different people. There were so many highlights. Porto Beach in Ardufeira was incredible; 30 000 bronzed people and such an enthusiastic crowd. Pacha Ampuria was fantastic too, as was Mysterylands, a huge festival in Amsterdam where the crowd was 60 000 strong. Cavo Paradiso in Greece is one of those special gigs that every DJ wants to play just for the love. After my “classic Guetta” set I got to spin a deep house and techno afterhours set, which is my own indulgence. It was a pleasure to play with and support my Swedish friends in their tent at Creamfields in the UK; it was an intimate tent but as much as I love the energy of a huge crowd, it’s not always the biggest that are the best. Having fun with my mates is just as important – and we did that day!
I have a special place for the crowd at Kissdafunk in Leeds. They were the first to support me in the UK and party like its their last night on earth. That was the last gig of the tour – and a double gig after Creamfields, which was the perfect ending.
I’m about to start work on my next artist album, so took the time on the planes to lay down some new tracks. I get influenced by the reaction of the people, and the way I capture it is by creating music.
My biggest record of the tour was a re-work of the classic Chemical Brothers track “Hey Boy Hey Girl” – you should check it out..
And I’ve been excited by the reaction to Everytime We Touch, my next single with Chris Willis; the last from Pop Life – and possibly my favourite.
Hope to see you for the closings in Ibiza – I’m taking October off DJing to record, so it will be the last time for a while.
That’s all for now – except to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to vote for me in the DJ Mag Top 100 poll. It closes on September 24th so there is still time, if you want to.
Keep on dancing.. Love David.
Oh and dont forget to post your pictures if you were there..
